How trauma can affect daily life
You might avoid certain roads, crowds or conversations, wake from nightmares, feel constantly on guard, or notice anger and numbness you did not have before. Some people feel fine for months before symptoms appear. These reactions are common, and they respond to treatment.

What care includes
- An evaluation that focuses on current symptoms; you choose how much of the event to share
- Screening for depression, substance use and sleep problems that often accompany PTSD
- Referral to trauma-focused therapies such as cognitive processing therapy, prolonged exposure or EMDR
- Medication to ease anxiety, low mood and sleep disturbance, including options that target nightmares
Veterans and first responders
We see veterans, police officers, firefighters, EMS workers and healthcare staff. If you also receive care through the VA, we can coordinate with your team with your permission.
