Why people in Salem book an evaluation
Some come because a problem has built up slowly, such as worry that now affects sleep, or low mood that has lasted a whole season. Others come after a specific event: a panic attack at work, a school report about attention, or a medication that stopped helping. Some simply want a second opinion on an older diagnosis. All of these are good reasons to be seen.

How the appointment is structured
- Before the visit: we may send short questionnaires so the time together is used well.
- History: your psychiatrist asks about current symptoms, past treatment, medical conditions, medicines, family history, sleep, substance use and daily life.
- Safety check: every evaluation includes questions about thoughts of self-harm, asked calmly and without judgment.
- Findings: you hear the working diagnosis in plain language, or what still needs to be clarified.
- Plan: together you agree the next step, which may be medication, therapy referral, more testing or coordination with your doctor.
The advantage of being local
Meeting in person lets your psychiatrist observe things that are harder to judge on a screen, and it is often more comfortable for younger children. Because the office is in town, follow-ups can be fitted around school pick-up or a shift at Tuscan Village or along Route 28. Our office is at 215 South Broadway (Route 28), Unit 129, in Salem, a few minutes from I-93 Exits 1 and 2. There is on-site parking, and the building is easy to find from Route 28 or from Pelham Road.
